Lost City’s Kelle Miller of right, and Maysville’s Danielle Nettles, learn the wind turbine technician’s trade through Eastern WV Community and Technical College’s certificate and degree program. The hands-on training takes place at Eastern’s Technology Training Center in Petersburg, in the college’s training turbine nacelle, that houses all of the turbine’s generating components, including the generator, gearbox, drive train, and brake assembly.
The only women who have earned Eastern’s associate in applied science (AAS) degree in Wind Energy Turbine Technology, Miller and Nettles, graduated in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
