Three vie for Homecoming Queen

The Tucker County High School Homecoming Queen will be announced Friday as the Mountain Lions take on the Moorefield Yellowjackets. Tucker County Commissioners sign a proclamation Wednesday declaring Sept. 21 to 27 as the West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees week. The association was formed in 1957 as a voice for retired teachers, school personnel, administrators and college personnel. WVARSE protects pensions, promotes senior opportunities and provides information for retired life, and it promotes professional, economic, intellectual and social well-being of its members as well as encourages volunteer opportunities. Signing the proclamation are Commissioners Diane Hinkle, Mike Rosenau and Lowell Moore. WVARSE members attending the proclamation signing include Carol Gwinn, Eleanor Nestor, Sylvia Rosenau, Millie Bennett, Aggie Arnold, Vonda Phillips, Evelyn Moore and Pat Usnick.

On behalf of the State Farm Youth Advisory Board, Bob Gutshall and Erin Bailey presented this "Big Check" for 25,000 to Our House Youth Center on Monday, September 8th. The check represents a grant from the State Farm Neighborhood Assist program, which the organization won through a Facebook voting contest among 200 finalists. The top 40 vote recipients received the grant.
