Cortland prepares for dining room renovations
Cortland Foundation Inc., thanks to the generosity of residents in and around Tucker County, has raised more than a third of the money needed to renovate the Cortland Acres dining room, but it’s looking for additional assistance.
Cortland Acres plans to undertake an upgrade to its dining facility, including new wall coverings, ceiling and lighting, and window treatments. The total cost is about $30,000, with $9,000 secured so far.
“This is an exciting project that will improve the area where our short- and long-term residents and their friends and family spend much of their time,” said Lois Nelson, executive director of the Cortland Foundation. “It will help us continue to provide an atmosphere that feels like home.”
For the first time, Cortland Foundation participated in the Neighborhood Investment Program that provides donors with tax credits through the West Virginia Development Office. All tax credits were awarded for 2013-2014, which helped generate $5,000 in donations. A grant from the Tucker Community Foundation assisted with funding for the wall coverings.
“Cortland Foundation’s mission is to secure resources to enhance the health and well-being of the Cortland community,” Nelson said. “The Foundation will help Cortland continue to provide and expand quality care and services to our neighbors during a time when the cost of providing that care continues to increase.”
Donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible.
