At the Parsons Park Board meeting on Monday, Feb. 10, the proposed Splash Zone to be built in Mill Race Park was under discussion.

Though, still in the planning stage, the splash zone is projected to be roughly the size of a basketball court, 40’ X 80’. The park board plans to have interactive features that will appeal to all youth, from teens to toddlers. A conference call was held with John Foraker from My Splash Pad and he will prepare a proposal to present to the board at their next meeting. The board hopes to complete the zone within the next two years at a cost of approximately $100,000.

The board agreed to hold a special meeting on February 24, 2014 to discuss their request for the Harman Fund draw as well as the replacement of play ground equipment at both city parks. Auvil stated that the equipment at River City Park is beginning to rust and needs upgraded. They also discussed repairing the back stop at the ball field at River City.

The board would like to hold some fund raisers to help improve the Wellness Center. A 5K run and Chicken Burn to be held on Saturday, July 26, could start things off.
