• According to a press release from Parsons Chief of Police, on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at about 12:30 p.m., employees of Shop-N-Save detained a juvenile shoplifter until Parsons Chief of Police, J.J. Jones, arrived.  The shoplifter was a local juvenile with no prior criminal history who had allegedly tried to steal goods with a total value of $30.75.  Roger Losh, manager of Shop-N-Save, caught the juvenile but decided against prosecuting.  The juvenile was escorted from the store by police and returned to parental custody.
• The Tucker County Sheriff’s Department investigated a two vehicle crash on Sunday, Sept. 1.  According to the police report from the Sheriff’s Office, a 2004 Ford Focus driven by Michael Glade Bennett was traveling south on US219 when he hit the guardrail, crossed the center line and struck a 2004 Ford Escape, driven by Carla Joann Shobe, head-on.
The Bennett vehicle caught fire and motorists pulled him from the vehicle.  Bennett was unresponsive and was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital.  A passenger in the Shobe vehicle sustained a leg injury and was transported by Tucker County Emergency Medical Services to Davis Memorial Hospital.
Thomas Volunteer Fire Department, Parsons Volunteer Fire Department, and Tucker EMS responded to the accident.  Deputy C.D. Donelson is officer in charge and it is an ongoing investigation.
• Officers from the Tucker County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two car accident on Wednesday, Sept. 4 on Mackeyville Rd.  Charles McDaniel, Jr. of 21 Mackeyville Rd. was driving a 2013 Chevy Equinox and Diane Elaine Dilly of 50 Pickadilly Lane of Hambleton was driving a 2011 Subaru Outback.
McDaniel has just passed a vehicle and he thought the vehicle had run into the ditch.  He looked in the rearview mirror to check on the vehicle, when he looked back he was left of center and crashed head-on into the Dilly vehicle.
Both were transported to Davis Memorial Hospital by Tucker EMS and Parsons Volunteer Fire Department was also on scene.  Sheriff Brian K. Wilfong and Chief Deputy E.C. Surguy investigated the crash and no citations were issued, according to the press release.
