With a line-up of family-friendly activities for the youngsters, and a unique assortment of vendors and products for home and family, the fifth annual, free admission Spring Extravaganza returns to the Potomac Highlands April 30. The fun starts at 10:00 in the morning and runs to 2:00 pm in Moorfield on the grounds of Eastern WV Community and Technical College at 316 Eastern Drive, just off Corridor H’s mile marker 107.6, two miles east of Route 220.
More than 300 guests from across the region and beyond attended last year’s Extravaganza, and this year’s exhibits and activities will again delight. The “Disney Princess Rapunzel,” bedecked in a beautiful gown, will meet, greet and fascinate children from 11:00 to 1:00, as she invites parents to bring their own cameras for photos. Kids will also enjoy onsite face-painting and balloon-sculpting during those hours, as well as up-front encounters with the animal mascots “Sparky the Dog,” from the Moorefield Volunteer Fire Company, and the college’s own “Easton the Eagle.”
Also in bright costumes, the Center Stage Dancers, with practiced performers age 3 and up, will present “Once Upon a Dance” at 11:00 am, directed by their choreographer and teacher, Missy Shockey. “Children’s Story Time,” led by Eastern students, will also offer youngsters enchanting entertainment.
Visitors can browse and shop at nearly 20 vendor and information booths for products and services, including jewelry, spa, beauty and perfume, purses and bags, weight loss and healthcare, home fragrances and décor, cookware, gourmet foods and gift baskets, crafts and other gifts.
Booths providing tobacco prevention assistance and osteoporosis screening will join representatives from the Eastern Regional Family Resource Network (ERFRN), UniCare and the Hardy County Wellness Center to offer health and family care services as well.
On the recommendation of last year’s satisfied visitors, the Sperrys Run Youth Group will make snacks and refreshments available onsite.
