In honor of all who served to keep our Country safe from its inception to today, we honor you. Thanks for doing your best for us and let us never forget the sacrifices made to allow us the freedoms we have. In honor of this, I have included a picture of the All Veterans Wall in Davis. It is a beautiful area that is being created and one well worth the time of stopping and remembering those who served. As we prepare for Memorial Day (Decoration Day) remember that the day was set aside to remember those who died while serving the countries armed forces. This day was set aside after the American Civil War to decorate the graves of the war dead with flowers. Before flowers were mass produced for purchase to place on graves, folks would gather any blooming flowers and place on the graves. My wife can remember her aunt and others gathering Rhododendron blooms and honey suckle to be placed on the graves. They would take Mason Jars and water with them to the cemetery to place the flowers in. Ideas or comments contact Tim Turner (304) 478-3389.
