Keith Edward “Hubie” Simmons, age 63 years, a former resident of Parsons, WV and more recently a resident of Midway, GA departed this life Friday afternoon, May 20, 2016 at his home. He had been in declining health although death was unexpected.
He was born Tuesday, August 12, 1952, at Parsons, WV, a son of the late James Ellwood and Catherine “Louise” Phillips Simmons. On February 25, 2000 at Ridgeland, SC, he was married to the former Janet Faye Carpenter, who survives.
Also surviving are one stepdaughter, Tamara Bryant and husband Aaron of Wagram, NC; four brothers, James Howard Simmons and wife Susie of Oshkosh, WI, David Wayne Simmons and wife Donna, Joseph Theodore Simmons and Richard Donald “Rick” Simmons and wife Linda, all of Parsons, WV; one sister, Marcia Elaine Cary and husband John of Benicia, CA; two twin step-grandchildren, Aidon and Kelly Bryant; several nieces and nephews.
He attended the schools of Pennsylvania and Parsons, WV, and he was a graduate of the Walter Biddle Saul Agricultural School in PA. He was a Carpenter and a handyman. He was a former employee of the Kingsford Charcoal Company, and the Marriott of Hilton Head, SC, where he was a service Engineer. He was a former employee of the Yoakum Restaurant at Seneca Rocks, Hallmark Construction and Sampson Construction in Georgia. He was affiliated with the Baptist Church at Fleming, GA. He was an excellent cook, enjoyed watching TV, woodworking and he loved his dogs and will be truly missed by Harley, his special dog.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 11 a.m. Rev. Larry Poling will officiate and interment will follow at the Mt. Zion Church of the Brethren near Belington, WV.
