Why can’t people just say what they mean and mean what they say? Mom never pulled her punches and neither did Gran. If they said something to you they meant every word. People today tend to live in a bubble. Look out for Number One and the heck with everyone else.
Everyone wants to lay the blame onto someone else. Momma Said, “Someday, Someone will do Everything for Everyone. I would like to think we live in a world where people helped others. I see people being taken advantage of because of a handicap and that really makes me mad. And it all boils down to money. How big is that SSI check and how can it be spent.
Sure not for the handicapped person. The “caregiver” uses it for cigarettes and beer. People don’t want to go out and get a job any more, they find it a lot easier to find someone that they can exploit. It makes me so mad to see children running around with nothing to eat, but the parents always have a cigarette hanging out of their mouth.
I get up every day and come to work and I know a lot of elderly people who are well past retirement age still having to get a job to support themselves. But then you have others that have learned how to work the system. The system has made it way to easy for these people to take advantage of everything.
The people that need help and assistance (our elderly and veterans) are not getting it. No Social Security increase but the officials in Washington can vote themselves a raise. I could live more than comfortably on what they make now, but that is not enough for them. Momma Said, “Take care of our elderly and veterans before handing out raises to the fat cats that don’t need it.” If our elderly can live on $900 a month, why can’t our politicians?
Everyone wants to be lazy today so here is a recipe that will fit right in.
Lazy Man’s Peach Cobbler
1 stick butter or margarine
1 C. milk
1 C. sugar
1 C. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
Dash of salt
1 qt. fruit, sweetened (peaches, cherries, blackberries, etc)
Melt butter in baking pan. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and milk. Pour batter in pan on top of butter; cover with fruit. Do not stir; batter will rise to top as it bakes and absorbs the flavor of the fruit. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream. So easy!
