Douglas H. Mitchell, 69, of Corry, Pa., died quietly at home on Saturday, July 16, 2016.
He was born in Corry, Pa., on Jan. 23, 1947, a son of the late William H. and Mary Burlingame Mitchell.
After graduating from Corry High School, Doug joined the U.S. Army and served with the 9th Infantry during the Vietnam War. Following his service he worked in car sales, at Dowell and, most recently, with Aegis Company as a sales manager for many years. In all his careers, his ability to deal with people was exceptional. Doug was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and golf. He was also a member of VFW Post 264, American Legion Post 365, AMVETS Post 50 and the Elks Club Lodge 769.
In addition to his wife, Bonnie Clark Mitchell, he is survived by a daughter, Dianna Kachmarek (Ed Jr.) of Parsons, W.Va.; and a son, Dr. Steve Mitchell (Angela) of Corry, Pa. He also leaves five grandchildren, Aiyana, Eddie, Weston, Eli and Finley. A sister, Mary Jean “Susie” Sperry (Michael) of Spring Creek, Pa., also remains along with two brothers, William Mitchell (Sandra) and Dale Mitchell (Kathy), all of Corry, Pa. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Services were private at the family’s convenience.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
