PARSONS – Newly appointed Tucker County Parks and Recreation Board Members Jonathan Hicks and Alan Simmons were sworn in to their positions Wednesday during the regular Tucker County Commission meeting. Shelly Bolyard, of the Tucker County Clerk’s Office, administered the Oath of Office.
Also during Wednesday’s meeting Tucker County Commission Administrator Joel Goughnour told Commissioners he had pre bid meetings with ZMM and four restoration contractors on Thursday and said one dropped out because they could not make the bond.
“We will have bid opening Aug. 4,” Goughnour said. “On Friday, I went to Charleston for the next training on grants for the Historical Restoration Grants.”
Commission President Lowell Moore said they had been fortunate to have received the Historic Restoration Grants in the past.
Other action taken during Wednesday’s meeting includes:
-Providing a letter to the Holly Meadows Golf Course that the property is not located in the municipality or a zoned area. This will allow the course to apply for a non-intoxicating beer license. Commissioner Patrick Darlington said the letter does not allow the license, but the state is the one who approves the license.
-Voted to approve a non-intoxicating beer floor plan extension added to the Timberline Four Seasons Resort Area for the dates of Aug. 19 and 20 during Brew Skies. Commissioner Diane Hinkle said this is something the Tucker County Commission approves each year for the event.
-Voted to approve erroneous assessments 7 through 16, pending approval by Tucker County Prosecuting Attorney Ray LaMora.
The next regular meeting of the Tucker County Commission is slated for 9 a.m. Aug. 17 at the Tucker County Courthouse Courtroom. Commissioners will only have one meeting in August because of the Fall Conference for Commissioners.
