Leaf Peeper’s Festival Meeting
There will be a Leaf Peeper’s Festival Meeting on Monday, August 15 at 5:30pm at the Tucker County Information Center. Storytime
The Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge will host Storytime on Friday, August 12 at 1 a.m.. The topic will be “Why Flowers Grow”. There will be a story, an activity and snack.
Cake Walk Hot Dog Sale
The Tucker Veteran’s Association and Parsons Chapter #91 OES will be having a cake walk and hot dog sale at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13 at the Courthouse Square.
Clothes for $1 a bag
Blackwater Ministerial Association will offer a large bag of clothes and shoes for $1 Saturday, August 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the food pantry in Davis.
Food Handler’s Class
Tucker County Health Department will be conducting Food Handler’s Training Classes at the Senior Center in Parsons at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10. Those persons attending the class will be issued a food handler’s permit which will be good for two years. A $10. The classes will start promptly and late arrivals will not be admitted.
Little Library
The Mountaintop Public Library Director Ivonne Martinez and Members of the Mountaintop Public Library Board of Trustees and the Friends of the Mountaintop Public Library will be installing a Little Free Library in front of the Tip Top Restaurant in Thomas on Friday, August 12 at 5 p.m. All are invited to attend
Bowling meeting
The Thursday Early Birds bowling league will be having the fall meeting Aug. 18 at the Elkins bowing center at 11 a.m . Ladies of all ages and bowling experience are invited to attend. For more information call 304-463-4508.

Retired School Employees Picnic
Retired School Employees annual picnic is Tuesday, August 16, at noon at Mill Race Park. All retired school employees and families are invited to attend. Bring a covered dish and enjoy good food and visiting.

Friday, August 12 – 8 p.m. Bats of West Virginia and Perseid Meteor Shower.
Beall Lane will be closed Aug. 8 until Sept. 2
West Virginia Department of Highways will be replacing the Beall Bridge located on Beall lane, which intersects Cortland Road. This road is a main access for Beall trails on the Refuge. The road will be closed from August 8, 2016 until September 2, 2016.
