On Saturday, August 27th, from Noon – 11:00pm, Friends of the Cheat (FOC) and the Preston County Animal Shelter (PSAS) will be cohosting a fundraiser full of dog-centric activities, craft beer, arts & crafts, food vendors, and great live music. Proceeds will benefit both Friends of the Cheat and the Preston County Animal Shelter. For more information on FOC – visit www.cheat.org.
Friends of the Cheat is a watershed non-profit located in Kingwood, WV. Our biggest fundraiser is the Cheat River Festival, held the first weekend of May. “Every year at Cheat Fest, our furry best friends have to stay home, so FOC is really excited to cohost a fundraiser that includes and celebrates our pups.” Event highlights include a dog adoption event, an Obedience 101 workshop with Dog Tags Training, Meet the Old Hemlock Setters, and Microchipping by Hart for Animals ($30). You can win cash and prizes with your pup in our lookalike, longest sit, and funniest wag contests. Sign ups are at noon. Please note that all dogs coming to Pups, Pints, & Pickin’ must have up-to-date dog and rabies tags – and must be child friendly, non-aggressive, and on a lease at all times. Dog waste disposal bags will be available at the festival.
The Craft Beer Garden opens at noon. Featured beers include: Screech Owl Brewing Rakers Revenge IPA, Wild & Wonderful Strawberry Ale, and Bold Blonde Ale; Oskar Blues Pinner and Momma’s Little Yella Pils; Bells Two Hearted and Kalamazoo Stout; and Bud Light. Craft Beer tickets are $5 – Bud Light tickets are $4.
The music line-up features great local musicians Paul Burger, Jake & Jesse Pitzer, and Emcee Allen Davis during the afternoon. Picking up the pace as the festival goes on will be Blackwater Mojo, 18 Strings, and The Company Stores – and finishing the evening will be headliners Donna the Buffalo. Music begins at noon and ends at 11:00 pm.
