Critically Acclaimed Organist to Perform in Davis

A public recital of organ music will be presented on Oct. 1, 4 p.m,. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Davis. Guest artist from Washington DC is Mickey Thomas Terry, prominent concert organist who has concertized throughout the US and Caribbean, and featured on Public Radio International’s Pipedreams. Prior to the performance, Dr. Terry will present an organ workshop at 10:30 a.m, discussing African American compositions for organ, including his multi-volume anthology, published by MorningStar Music. According to composer George Walker, 1996 Pulitzer Prize winner for Music, “Dr. Mickey Thomas Terry is a superb recitalist of unquestionable ability.” Hosted by St. John’s, the event is co-sponsored by the Monongahela Chapter of American Guild of Organists, and Gerrero-Kirk Classic Organ Inc.
