KINGWOOD – The Tucker County Girls’ and Boys’ Cross Country teams opened the season on August 20th at the Annual Preston Knight Night Relays.
The Girls team did not have enough girls to compete in the team competition, but they did compete individually. Natalie Evans was the top finisher for Tucker County with a time 11:51.8 and Mikala Betler turned in a time of 11:59.9. This gave them a finish of 78th and 82nd out of 124 runners’ total.
In the Boys’ race Tucker County finished 25th(41:01) out of 29 relay groups competing. The Mt. Lions team consisted of Will White, Nathaniel Radar, Noah Nelson and Cameron Wamsley. Will White was the fastest runner for Tucker County with a time of 9:08.0 followed by Nathaniel Radar(10:34.6), Noah Nelson(10:38.6) and Cameron Wamsley(10:39.8). Both Cross Country teams were scheduled to race at Keyser on August 30th and then will travel to Elkins on September 10th for the Forest Festival Invitational.
