PARSONS – The 2016 Tucker County Fair 4-H and FFA Livestock Sale was a great success – with animals that students have carefully tended for the last year being sold to residents, businesses and elected officials. In many cases, the animals were donated back to the exhibitor or to a group to be used for fundraising. This year’s livestock sale raised more than $55,000.
The Grand Champion Hog weighed 277 pounds and was owned by Madison Mullenax. The hog was purchased by Mettiki Coal for $4.75 per pound and the animal was donated to the 4-H Leaders. Lydia Mullenax had the Reserve Champion Hog that weighed 231 pounds. It was purchased by Del. Randy Smith, R-Preston, for $2.75 per pound, and donated to the Tucker County FFA. The hog class was sponsored by Dell Ridge Farms – The Hauser Family.

Mary Carr, whose hog weighed 214 pounds – it was purchased by McClain Printing for $3.25 per pound and was donated back to the exhibitor.
Abby Bowley, whose hog weighed 271 pounds – it was purchased by Kingsford for $3.50 per pound.
Tate Mullenax, whose hog weighed 221 pounds – it was purchased by Shop’n Save for $3.25 per pound.
Ethan Carr, whose hog weighed 260 pounds – it was purchased by Robinson’s Logging for $3.10 per pound.
Mary Carr, whose hog weighed 202 pounds – it was purchased by Mountain Valley Bank for $3.10 per pound and donated to the 4-H Teen Leaders.
Lydia Mullenax, whose hog weighed 237 pounds – it was purchased by Kingsford for $3.25 per pound.
Ethan Carr, whose hog weighed 199 pounds – it was purchased by McClain Printing for $3.25 per pound and donated back to the exhibitor.
Hannah Cussins, whose hog weighed 258 pounds – it was purchased by Scott and Diane Hinkle for $3.25 per pound and donated back to the exhibitor.
Logan Pennington, whose hog weighed 195 pounds – it was purchased by Citizens Bank of WV for $3.20 per pound and donated back to the exhibitor.
Tate Mullenax, whose hog weighed 200 pounds – it was purchased by Melvin Jackson for $3.30 per pound.
Shayla Mason, whose hog weighed 231 pounds – it was purchased by Preston Contractors for $3.50 per pound and donated to the FFA.
Abby Bowley, whose hog weighed 247 pounds – it was purchased by Davis Health System for $3.50 per pound and donated to Dryfork.
Hunter Canfield, whose hog weighed 296 pounds – it was purchased by Teets Meat for $2.70 per pound.
Micah Thompson, whose hog weighed 195 pounds – it was purchased by Mettiki Coal for $3.25 per pound and donated to SkillsUSA.
Darrah Pennington, whose hog weighed 206 pounds – it was purchased by Ray LaMora for $3.10 per pound,
Sidney Simmons, whose hog weighed 217 pounds – it was purchased by B.M.R. for $3.00 per pound.
Shayla Mason, whose hog weighed 228 pounds – it was purchased by Dr. Anne Banfield for $3.00 per pound and donated to the FFA.
Evan Shahan, whose hog weighed 253 pounds – it was purchased by Robinson Logging for $2.80 per pound.
Haley Cussins, whose hog weighed 283 pounds – it was purchased by Shop’n Save for $2.70 per pound.
Sidney Simmons, whose hog weighed 198 pounds – it was purchased by Pat Darlington for $3.25 per pound.
Jacob Hauser, whose hog weighed 200 pounds – it was purchased by Del. Randy Smith for $3.00 per pound and donated to the FFA.
Sean Simmons, whose hog weighed 220 pounds – it was purchased by Fairfax Materials for $3.00 per pound and donated to the Tucker County Athletics.
Andrew Hauser, whose hog weighed 214 pounds – it was purchased by Hostetler Funeral Home for $2.50 per pound.
Tanner Burns, whose hog weighed 249 pounds – it was purchased by the 7th Street Car Wash for $3.00 per pound and donated to the exhibitor.
Hunter Canfield, whose hog weighed 276 pounds – it was purchased by Moore’s Farm Service for $2.85 per pound.
Vincent Moats, whose hog weighed 195 pounds – it was purchased by Mountain Valley Bank for $2.55 per pound and donated to the 4-H Teen Leaders.
Sean Simmons, whose hog weighed 200 pounds – it was purchased by Patrick Foley for $2.85 per pound.
Laney Burns, whose hog weighed 207 pounds – it was purchased by 7th Street Car Wash for $2.75 per pound and was donated back to the exhibitor.

The market steers class was sponsored by Pat Bright. The grand champion was raised by Shelby Beavers and weighed 1,508 pounds. The grand champion was purchased by Mettiki for $3.00 per pound and was donated to the FFA. The reserve champion was raised by Jacob Beavers and weighed 1,452 pounds. The animal was purchased by Robinson Logging for $2.10 per pound.

Kate Bates, whose market steer weighed 1,393 pounds, was purchased by Patrick Darlington for $2.10 per pound.
Vincent Moats, whose market steer weighed 1,136 pounds, was purchased by Shop’n Save for $2.40 per pound.
Karlee Smith, whose market steer weighed 942 pounds, was purchased by Wayne Smith for $2.35 per pound and was donated back to the exhibitor.
Little Andi’s Restaurant sponsored the layers. The grand champion exhibitor was Logan Pennington and his two layers were purchased by Kenna’s Deer for $65 each. The reserve champion exhibitor was Sarah Bates and her two layers were purchased by the Picket Patch for $55 each and donated back to the exhibitor.

Two layers owned by Jacey Davis that were purchased by Kenna’s Deer for $110 each and donated back to the exhibitor.
Two layers owned by Sean Simmons that were purchased by Mountaineer for $80 each.
Two layers owned by Andrew Cale that were purchased by Mark Teets for $65 each.
Little Andi’s Restaurant sponsored the broilers class. Noah Moore had two broilers, purchased by Sirianni’s for $65 each.
The feeder steers class was sponsored by Justin and Dr. Jessy Vandevender. The grand champion entry was owned by Sarah Bates and weighed 652 pounds. The animal was purchased by Commissioner Lowell Moore for $2.00 per pound. The reserve champion entry was owned by Tanner Burns weighed 636 pounds and was not sold.

Mary Carr, whose feeder steer weighed 491 pounds and was purchased by Southern States Oakland for $1.90 per pound.
Abigail Long, whose feeder steer weighed 567 pounds and was purchased by Preston Farmers for $1.50 per pound.
Sidney Simmons, whose feeder steer weighed 380 pounds and was purchased by Preston Farmers for $1.50 per pound.
Sean Simmons, whose feeder steer weighed 355 pounds and was purchased by Beavers Construction for $1.55 per pound.
The grand champion exhibitor in the feeder heifers was Tanner Burns and his animal weighed 555 pounds. The reserve champion exhibitor in the feeder heifers was Abigail Long. Her animal weighed 490 pounds. Both animals were purchased by Moore’s Farm. The grand champion fetched $2.10 per pound and was donated back to the exhibitor. The reserve champion was sold for $1.70 per pound. The feeder heifers class was sponsored by John and Diane Nestor.

The market rabbit class was sponsored by Nick and Ashlea Wolfe. The grand champion exhibitor was Samantha Long. Her rabbits were purchased by Cooper and Preston for $65 each and were donated back to the exhibitor. The reserve champion exhibitor was Abigail Long and her rabbits were purchased by Kenna’s Deer for $50 each.

The grand champion exhibitor in the market goats was Shelby Beavers, whose goat weighed 84 pounds. The goat was purchased by Hansford Insurance for $3.00 per pound and donated to FFA. The reserve champion exhibitor was Camille Smith. Her goat weighed 82 pounds and was purchased for $1.50 per pound by Sirianni’s and donated back to the exhibitor. The sponsor for the market goats is Leonard and Brenda Arnold.

The reserve champion exhibitor was Shayla Mason, whose lamb weighed 94 pounds and was purchased by Mettiki Coal for $3.00 per pound. The market lamb class was sponsored by Snowy Creek Dorsets.
