DAVIS, W.Va., August 19, 2016 – Fresh off its announcement that it will double its snowmaking capacity this winter, Canaan Valley Resort State Park Ski Area in West Virginia’s Allegheny Mountains is purchasing $80,000 worth of new equipment for its skiers, boarders and skaters.
“With the increased snowmaking and additional inventory of an array of rental equipment, we are doing everything to ensure that the upcoming season is epic and memorable,” said Steve Drumheller, general manager of Canaan Valley Resort. “After our unseasonably mild temperatures last year, we know there is plenty of pent-up demand among skiers from throughout the East, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest, and we are anxious to welcome them here with a memorable ski experience and great accommodations.”
Owned by the State of West Virginia and managed by U.S. Hotels & Resort Management, Inc., a Sioux Falls, S.D.-based hotel management company, Canaan Valley Resort Ski Area is a popular destination among skiers of all abilities.
In addition to its existing equipment, the resort’s rental shop will provide Elan downhill skis, snowboards and snow boots; Salomon downhill ski boots; Elan cross country skis, boots and poles; Evo snowshoes and Jackson Softec ice skates.
The new equipment complements the resort’s addition of 12 T40 snow guns which will double its snowmaking capacity. The hill opens in mid-December.
This year’s enhancements follow the opening of glade skiing areas in 2015, an addition that has proven to be exceptionally popular with the many experienced skiers who visit the resort.
