PARSONS – Halloween is just around the corner and this year folks will have the opportunity to enjoy a haunted trail located across from Patriots 4. Owner Wendell Cantrell said it is called Patriots 4 Trail to Hell-O-Ween. This is the second year for the event and Cantrell said he hopes people will come out to the trail and have fun.
“We really enjoyed it last year and the community seemed to have a good time, so we want to keep it going,” Cantrell said. “It is located across from our store on the corner of Routes 72 and 38 in St. George.”
Cantrell said the idea to develop a haunted trail came because they had a wooded area that was not big enough to use for anything else.
“I moved here from Ohio 11 years ago and haunted trails are all over there. I love them.”
Cantrell said not only is the trail fun, but also gives community members the opportunity to give back. He said he even went around and talked to the area churches because he did not want the name to offend anyone.
The haunted trail opens Sept. 29 and those attending who bring canned goods will receive $2 off the admission fee. “We will then donate the canned goods to the local food pantry,” Cantrell said.
They are also offering to take $1 from every admission on Oct. 6 and donate to the Tucker County Animal Shelter and $1 of every admission from Oct. 13, which they will donate to the Tucker County Veterans Association.
Cantrell said the Patriots 4 Trail to Hell-O-Ween will be open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
“We usually open between 7 or 7:30 p.m. or when it gets dark,” he said. “We stay open until everyone gets through the trail. It’s up to the crowd how long we stay open.”
He said it takes about 25 to 30 minutes to make your way through the Patriots 4 Trail to Hell-O-Ween. “You walk kind of slow because you never know what’s going to happen,” he said. “Everything will be different this year, so if you enjoyed it last year, come back and see us again.”
“We just want people to come and enjoy it,” Cantrell said. “That’s what it is about for us. I had so much fun with it last year. I just love it!”
