David Burr Currance, age 78 years, a resident of the Red Run Community, Hendricks, WV, departed this life Friday, September 16, 2016 at home. Death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born Wednesday, October 13, 1937 at Parsons, WV, a son of the late Clinton Burr and Lena Irene Nestor Currance.
Surviving are one sister, Kay Frances Currance Flanagan and husband Dennis of Hendricks, WV; two nephews, David Paul Flanagan and wife Marie, and Jeffrey Scott Flanagan and wife Lori of Woodbridge, VA; two great nephews, Jeffrey Shawn Flanagan and Conner Ryan Flanagan, students at VA Tech in Blacksburg, VA and one great niece, Kailin Faith Flanagan of Woodbridge, VA.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1955 and went on to Potomac State College and West Virginia University. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for Melpar in Falls Church, VA, and on board the oceanographic ship for two years. He served forty-four years with the United States Government at Fort Belvoir, VA with night vision lab, where he traveled overseas testing night vision equipment for the military. David enjoyed volunteering at Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas, WV and served with the Historical Society and Ham Radio Operators.
