PARSONS – The City of Parsons has a new City Recorder – Bruce Kolsun who was one of the Parsons City Council members. There were two individuals who submitted their letters of interest into the City of Parsons Office – Eric Roy and Mike Rosenau. City Administrator/Treasurer Jason Myers said Kolsun submitted his letter of interest directly to Mayor Dorothy Judy at her home.
“It is up to City Council to appoint and fill any vacancies,” Myers said. “They have been putting the ad in the paper for letters of interest just to see if there is any interest out in the public.”
The City of Parsons Recorder acts as the vice mayor. If anything would happen to the mayor, the recorder would move up into that position.
“So it makes sense to have an individual that was already elected by the people to move into that position,” Myers said.
Myers said the Parsons City Council will be advertising for letters of interest from the community for someone who wants to fill Kolsun’s spot on the City Council until the next election.
Parsons City Council members voted unanimously for Kolsun’s lateral move to be the City Recorder.
The next meeting of the Parsons City Council is set for 6 p.m. Oct. 4.
