PARSONS – Tucker County hosted neighbor county rival Philip-Barbour last Friday September 23rd. The Mt. Lions held a slim 7-0 lead at the half and outscored the Colts 14-7 in the second half to pick up their second win of the season by the final score of 21-7.
Philip-Barbour and Tucker County traded punts early in the first quarter before the Mt. Lions capitalized on a drive with 51 seconds left in the first quarter. Luke Poling went 6 yards for a touchdown and the PAT kick was good to make the score 7-0 after one quarter. Tucker County could not sustain a drive in the second quarter. Philip-Barbour completed a big pass play late in the second quarter, but the Colts could not get into the end zone and the score remained 7-0 at the half.
The third quarter looked a lot like the second quarter as neither team could sustain a drive early on. Jameson Hardy then intercepted a Philip-Barbour pass to give the Mt. Lions the ball at the Colts 23 yard line. The drive then stalled on 3rd down and 4th down sacks by Philip-Barbour. The Colts had to punt after just three plays and Will Callaway returned the punt 30 yards for Tucker County to put the ball at the Philip-Barbour 10. Then Poling would punch the ball in on a 6 yard touchdown run with 2 seconds left in the third quarter. The PAT kick was good to up the lead for the Mt. Lions 14-0.

The PAT kick was good to make the score 14-7 Tucker County. The Mt. Lions then turned the ball over and Philip-Barbour got the ball back looking to tie the game. Joey Howell then intercepted a Colts pass in the end zone to stop the Colts drive. Tucker County then marched down the field and the drive was capped off on a 1 yard touchdown run by Brett Reall with 4:05 left in the game. The PAT kick was good again to put the Tucker County lead to 21-7. Philip-Barbour was unable to answer back as the Mt. Lions captured the hard fought victory 21-7.

Brett Reall led Tucker County with 11 carries for 86 yards rushing and Luke Poling added 50 yards rushing on 27 carries. Philip-Barbour was led by Kurtis Humphreys with 179 yards passing. Tucker County outgained the Colts on the night 181 to 170.
