Elkins, WV – The Davis Health System (DHS) Foundation “Transforming Care TogethER” campaign has moved $10,000 closer in its effort to optimize local emergency care services through the generous support of the Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP) Community Investment Program.
On Wednesday, Dominion’s External Affairs Representative Christine Mitchell presented a $10,000 gift to DHS CEO Vance Jackson, Foundation Director Mike Bell, Community Giving Specialist Jennie Raines, and Foundation Board President Hugh Hitchcock.
“We are happy to do our part to help Davis Health System modernize its emergency care center,” said Christine Miller, who represented the ACP Community Investment Program. “Emergency care services are vital to the health and well-being of every community, so we’re honored to help enhance these services for residents and families across north-central West Virginia.”
The foundation’s $2 million Transforming Care TogethER campaign was launched in September, 2015. Emergency care services at Davis Medical Center will be enhanced through a physical expansion and renovation of space including additional private treatment rooms, technology upgrades, shortened wait times through FasTrack, modern, comfortable waiting areas, and improved patient flow processes.
“With this generous gift, Dominion is demonstrating its commitment to first-class regional medical care and to our community,” Mike Bell said. “This investment will tangibly enhance the patient experience at DMC’s Emergency Department.”
The DHS Foundation was established in 2007 as a public charity to support regional healthcare and the goals of Davis Health System. Through a variety of gifting opportunities and diverse giving channels, it has provided more than $3,300,000 to meet needs in the areas of cancer care, student scholarships, telemedicine, new medical technologies, construction and renovation and many others.
The ACP Community Investment Program provides financial assistance for projects tied to the well-being and vitality of communities along the proposed 600-mile Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP). The program is part of the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, LLC, a company formed by four major U.S. energy companies — Dominion, Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas and AGL Resources — to develop, own and operate the ACP. The pipeline would be capable of delivering up to 1.5 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas to be used by public utilities to generate electricity as well as heat homes and run local businesses. The underground pipeline project would facilitate cleaner air, increase reliability and security of natural gas supplies, and provide a significant economic boost in West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.
