This is a photo of the Keystone Company’s Kindling-Wood Factory from Hambleton, WV Dated March 1910. The plant was built in 1901 and was located at the end of the bridge over the Black Fork River. The river can be seen in the left side of the photo two thirds of the way down. The factory would cut and bale the waste wood from the Otter Creek Sawmill. This product was shipped to the coal burning cities to help build fires in the furnaces. The plant was destroyed by fire on May 25, 1913. The kindling factory was not rebuilt because it was anticipated that the sawmill was going to close. Ideas or comments contact Tim Turner (304) 478-3389.
