KINGWOOD – Tucker County traveled to “AAA” Preston on Tuesday December 27th in road game.
The Mt. Lions took the early lead and never looked back to get the victory at Preston by the final score of 56-48.
In the first quarter Tucker County held the Knights to just 2 points and led after one 6-2. The Mt. Lions then extended their lead in the second as they outscored the host Preston 16-12 to take a 22-14 lead into the locker room at the half.
Preston would fight back in the third as they outpaced Tucker County 16-14 to cut the Mt. Lions lead to 36-30 after three quarters. Tucker County finished things off in the fourth quarter as they outshot the Knights in the final quarter 20-18 to pick up the victory on the road 56-48.
Ethan Crosten led Tucker County with 23 points, 5 rebounds and Josh Kincaid added 9 points, 8 rebounds in the win. Jakob Cousin had 8 points, 5 rebounds and Kordell Fulton finished with 7 points for the Mt. Lions. The Tucker County JV team fell to Preston in overtime 56-51.
ACCIDENT, MD – The Mt. Lions traveled to Northern Garrett for a varsity only contest on Wednesday December 28th.
The Mt. Lions used a big second half as they outscored Northern 38-18 after halftime to cruise by the Huskies for the win 59-41.
Tucker County started the game slow and Northern came out matching the Mt. Lions as the score was tied after one 9-9. The Huskies fought back late in the second to erase a 6 point deficit to lead at the half 23-21.
Tucker County began the third quarter on a run they outpaced Northern 16-8 in the quarter to take a 37-31 lead after three. In the fourth quarter the Mt. Lions put the pedal down as they exploded for 22 points and held the Huskies to just 10 points to pick up the road victory 59-41.
Ethan Crosten topped Tucker County in scoring with 23 points, 7 steals and 4 assists. Josh Kincaid added 10 points and 9 rebounds for the Mt. Lions. Kordell Fulton and Wesley Snyder chipped in with 6 points each for Tucker County and Fulton collected 9 steals on the night.
Tucker County(4-3) were scheduled to play at Moorefield on Tuesday January 3rd. The Mt. Lions will then travel to Notre Dame on Friday January 6th for a varsity only contest at 7:30pm after the TCHS Girls’ varsity game. For more info or complete schedules go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
