HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Girls’ Basketball team hosted their PVC rival East Hardy on Wednesday January 4th.
The Lady Mt. Lions jumped out to an early lead and every Tucker County player scored in the game as they rolled to an 84-31 victory at home.
The Lady Mt. Lions started the game with full court pressure and the Lady Cougars struggled to keep the ball as Tucker County led after one quarter 19-6. East Hardy continued to struggle in the second quarter as the Tucker County pressure forced turnovers and gave the Lady Mt. Lions a 25-8 advantage in the second. This resulted in a 44-14 lead for Tucker County at the halftime intermission.
The game plan did not change for Tucker County in the third as they outpaced the Lady Cougars 19-8 in the third to push their advantage to 63-22 after three.
The Lady Mt. Lions reserve players finished out most of the fourth quarter and the Lady Mt. Lions outscored East Hardy 21-9 in the final quarter to take the home victory 84-31.
Sydney Moore led all Tucker County scores with her career high 20 points and Moore added 5 steals in the win. Jenna Walker and Kelcee James added 13 points each for Tucker County. Sydney Nestor chipped in with 10 points, 4 assists and Elizabeth Nichols led the Lady Mt. Lions in rebounding with 14 boards and 8 points. The Tucker County JV team picked up the victory also 69-9.
The Lady Mt. Lions(8-2) was scheduled to host “AA” Frankfort on January 9th and then Tucker County will be idle until they travel to Pendleton County on Wednesday January 18th and then they will travel Pocahontas County on Friday January 20th.
