Donna Jean Markley, 89, of Thomas, WV passed away January 14, 2017 at Cortland Acres. She was born February 15, 1927 in Pierce, WV a daughter of the late Lawrence and Virdella Cummings. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Theodore Markley, also preceding her in death, three brothers, Lawrence David Cummings, Daniel Cummings, and Jerry Alden Cummings, one sister, Marian Kimble, and one daughter-in-law, Jill Markley.
She is survived by one brother, Terry Lynn Cummings, Phoenix, AZ, one sister, Carol Helmick, Damascus, MD, two sons, Rick Markley, and Ted (Jackie) Markley, two daughters, Toni (Bob) Helmick and Donna Lynn (Barry) Oppenheim, nine grandchildren, Scott, Kevin, Shane, Justin, Wade, Andrea, Jason, Jenna, and Joey, and nine great-grandchildren, Alex, Paige, Courtney, Dixie, Evan, Mikey, Madison, Cassie, and Aryanna.
Mrs. Markley was known as the Matriarch of the family and always taking care of her family, she extended her love, care, and devotion to Cortland Acres as she volunteered for over 27 years.
Friends were received Tuesday, January 17, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Hinkle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, at Hinkle Funeral Chapel with Rev. Neil Parsons officiating. Interment will follow in Nethkin Hill Cemetery. Hinkle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. www.hinklefuneralhome.com
