TRAVEL NEWS
The plans are complete for the September 10, 2017 to September 15, 2017 trip to Myrtle Beach. The cost of this trip will be $ 700.00 per person based on double occupancy. We have called all the people on the list but there are a couple people for which we don’t have phone numbers. If you called to have your name on the list and did not receive a call, PLEASE call again so we can give you the details. The first payment of $ 140 will be collected on Thursday, April 6th. If you have any questions, feel free to call the Parsons Center at 304-478-2423. There ARE still some spaces available so if you are interested, please give us a call.
The final payment for New York will also be collected on April 6th. The itineraries will be available at that time.
We realize that it is early but plans have been made for a return Christmas trip to the Galt House in Louisville, KY. We have included the luncheon cruise on the Spirit of Jefferson, Churchill Downs, the Mega Caverns and several other attractions. The price will be $700. We will not begin collecting until the beginning of June but you can start saving now. If you are interested, please call and get your name and phone number on the list. As always, we will call the people in the order of the list.
VETERAN’S REPRESENTATIVE
The representative from the WVDVA will be at the Parsons Center on Thursday, April 6, 2017. Feel free to stop in and talk to him about your veteran concerns.
PARSONS OUTPOST
The Parsons Center will be holding their monthly Outpost meeting on Tuesday, April 4, 2017. The Goldenaires will be entertaining us with beautiful music to get us ready for the Easter season. Please come at 10:30 a.m. with your favorite covered dish and join in our fellowship.
SENIOR OLYMPICS
The Senior Olympics will be held again this year in Keyser, WV. The dates are June 6th through 9th. We have not received any further information at this time. If you want to be contacted when we get more information, please call the Parsons Center at 304-478-2423. Leave your phone number so we can call you with details.
Please don’t be intimidated by the word “Olympics.” If you can throw a Frisbee, a waffle ball, basketball or a Nerf football, you can participate. They also have a talent show where you can recite poetry, sing, dance or display your other talents. There is also a baked goods and crafts competition that you may enter. You do not have to enter all events. You only enter the ones you want to participate in. The Tucker Co. team has done very well in the past and we would love to have you join our team and help us bring home lots of medals.
SHIP WORKER RETIRES
Ann Filler, who has served in several positions, but most recently as our SHIP worker, has officially retired. Her last day was March 16th. We thank her for her many years of service and wish her a HAPPY RETIREMENT.
For those who still need SHIP services, we are partnering with the Randolph County Senior Center to provide those services. You will need to call 304-636-4747 to schedule an appointment. Their SHIP worker will be coming to Tucker County on Thursday, March 30thfor their first appointments. Please remember to call them to make sure you are scheduled.
