Join Friends of the Cheat on Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6, to celebrate the 23rd annual Cheat River Festival, located at the festival grounds off Route 26 just north of Albright, about 30 miles from Morgantown. Fest gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Friday evening, and at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, with a fantastic lineup of music both days.
Tickets will be sold at the gate for $10 Friday night, $20 for Saturday. Camping is not included in entry, but Teeter’s Campground and Cheat Canyon Campground are a short walk from the fest site. Please note: glass bottles and pets are strictly prohibited and camping.
Cheat Fest has something for everyone. Families, artists, boaters, and music lovers alike join together in celebration and support of the mission of Friends of the Cheat – to restore, preserve, and promote, the outstanding natural qualities of the Cheat River Watershed. All money raised at Cheat Fest supports Friends of the Cheat in community projects like water remediation, river access maintenance, management of a citizen science watershed watch program, and development of rail-trails in Preston County. Friends of the Cheat is focusing on reducing the festival’s environmental footprint – but it will take participation from all guests. FOC is encouraging guests to carpool to the festival grounds, and any car that arrives with 4 or more passengers will be eligible to win great prizes like VIP festival access, free fest entrance, and swag. FOC is also focusing on reducing waste generated from the festival by encouraging attendees to bring their own reusable cups & utensils. Vendors will be serving their delicious food on bio-degradable dinnerware, which will be composted along with food scraps with the help of WVU.
