Jimmy Lee Drenning, 80, of Davis, WV died April 2, 2017 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born January 5, 1937 in Pierce, WV a son of the late Clyde Earl and Gladys Mae Miller Drenning.
He is survived by one son, Donnie Drenning, NC, Delly (Billy) Newcome, NC, one brother, Joe (Terry) Drenning, Davis, WV, one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Benji. He was preceded in death by six sisters, Frances Collins, Margaret Adams, Edith McGuffin, Patricia Cegelis, Mavadell Gardner, and Judy Goldstein.
Mr. Drenning worked as a coal miner and in law enforcement. He served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, he cherished living in the woods at his cabin, and enjoyed walking his dog on the streets of Davis. He loved volunteering his time at Cortland Acres.
Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Wednesday, April 5, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services were held, 12 noon, Thursday, April 6, at Hinkle Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Callaway officiating.
