The Tucker Valley Middle School Softball team played at East Fairmont on April 28th and got knocked off by the final score of 5-2. Tory Paul, London Hood, Corrinia Lipscomb and Kate Simmons each had hits in the first inning as Tucker Valley took an early 2-0 lead.
Paige Shaffer pitched 4 innings striking out 4, but the Lady Wildcats were unable to hold off East Fairmont as they scored 3 runs in the 5th inning to take the lead and hold on for the 5-2 win. In the second game of the night East Fairmont built a 3-0 lead and the thunderstorms rolled in at the start of the 4th inning. The game was called due to the rain and storms. Kate Simmons, Tory Paul and Gracie Rapp each collected a hit in the shortened game.
The Lady Wildcats hosted Elkins on May 2nd and took the victory 20-8. All 9 starters for Tucker Valley scored at least 2 runs in the contest with Jacey Davis and Cheyenne Gooden scoring 3 runs as Tucker Valley best Elkins 20-8 in 3 innings. London Hood led the team at the plate going 4-4 including a triple. Tory Paul and Kate Simmons each picked up multiple hits in the victory. Kate Simmons picked up the win on the mound pitching the last 2 innings.
The Wildcats scored 8 runs in the first and followed that up with 12 in the second to pick up the victory and put their record on the season at 6-4.
Tucker Valley hosted Robert Bland on May 4th and took the loss 9-3. The Lady Wildcats dropped a hard fought battle against Robert Bland 9-3. Tucker Valley lead 2-0 through 4 innings before Robert Bland scored 6 runs in the top of the 5th to take the lead. Tucker Valley scored 1 run in the 5th but was unable to come back in the final 2 innings. Paige Shaffer took the loss on the mound going 5 innings and giving up 6 runs. Tucker Valley was led at the plate by London Hood who went 4-4 and scored 2 runs. Tory Paul also contributed 2 hits and scored a run.
The Lady Wildcats host Buckhannon on May 9th with the visiting team winning the contest 10-0. Tucker Valley struggled at the plate in the 10-0 loss to Buckhannon. Tory Paul and Paige Shaffer picked up a hit a piece as the Wildcats were held to 2 hits in the contest. Corrinia Lipscomb took the loss on the mound giving up 4 runs through 3 innings.
Tucker Valley(7-6) hosted Elkins in the last game of the season on May 10th. The Lady Wildcats started slow, but exploded at the plate to pick up the win 16-5. Kate Simmons picked up the win pitching the last 3 innings to preserve the win. The Wildcats were again led at the plate by London Hood who went 2-3 including a Homerun and 3 runs scored. Tory Paul also contributed 3 hits and scored 2 runs. Gracie Rapp also hit an inside the park Homerun while Corrinia Lipscomb, Paige Shaffer, Shaleigh Darlington and Kristen Hicks each also had a hit and scored multiple runs. Tucker Valley scored 6 runs in both the 3rd and 5th inning to blow open the game.
