Five to six years ago, land was purchased on Tannery Row for the purpose of relocating Shop ‘N Save from its present location at 156 Main Street.
According to Roger Losh, store manager, it is hoped that the new building will be operational in the spring of 2018. Shop ‘N Save has been at the present location since 1988.
The store at 156 Main Street is 11,000 square feet in size. Thirty-five employees now work at this location. Losh said “The new building will be larger at 18,000 square feet. This will give us more room for extra freezers, and larger display areas. In other words, it will be an updated facility. In addition, we hope to be able to employ more people.”
What will become of the present building? It is believed that some other business entity will acquire it. Meanwhile, the community can look for the new store to open in the spring of 2018.
