Michael David “Mike” Burnside

Michael David “Mike” Burnside, 50, a resident of Montrose, passed from this life Thursday, August 17, 2017 at his home surrounded by family and under the care of Mountain Hospice.


Mike was born Thursday, November 24, 1966 in DuBois, PA, a son of William ‘David’ Burnside and the late Joy ‘Diane’ Cosner Burnside.  On December 9, 2006 in Parsons, he was married to the former Hollie Arbogast who survives.

Left to cherish Mike’s memory are twin daughters, Alyssa Dawn Burnside and Erin Brooke Burnside Pharis, one brother, Charles Edward “Ed” Burnside and wife, Lori of Montrose, one sister, Debra Ann Senese and wife, Edie of Hazlet, NJ, grandchildren Haylie, Zachariah, and Maddison Thompson, Mason Arbogast, Brody and Raelynn Pharis, nieces and nephews, Zack and Koti Burnside, Dylan Senese, Hayley and Hunter Neville.

Mike was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1985 and graduated Ohio Diesel Tech in 1986.  He had worked as a diesel mechanic for twenty years for Grimes Enterprises of Dailey.  He was a member of the NRA.  He was a devoted husband, loving father and family man.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and was a talented mechanic.  The family wishes to acknowledge and thank lifelong friends, Terry and Linda Grimes and family, Mike and Amanda Arbogast, Rick Butcher, Brad Hutton and Donna, Bud and Helen Cosner, and Linda and Christy Cosner for all they have done for Mike.

A visitation was held at Riverview Chapel in Porterwood on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour.  Rev. James Snyder officiated and interment followed in Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.  The Hostetler Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements for Michael David “Mike” Burnside.  Condolences may be made to the family at www.hostetlerfuneralhome.com.
