At approximately 5:11 a.m. on Sunday, September 3, Tucker County 911 received a call about a woman who was shot at 905 Pheasant Run Road. West Virginia State Police Cpl. J. E. Kopec was first on the scene. He found the victim, later identified as Nakeia Alisa Moore. Moore suffered from a single gunshot wound to her chest. She was unable to identify her attacker and was later pronounced dead at Davis Memorial Hospital.
According to the criminal complaint documents, West Virginia State Police 1st Sgt. K. L. Keplinger arrived on the scene and found the alleged suspect, Jason Richard White. White said he discovered. Moore in the residence and ran next door to call 911. White said he was not at the residence at the time of the shooting.
At the time, White was on home confinement with a GPS monitoring device attached to his ankle.
On September 4, Keplinger located a witness that reported hearing a gunshot in the area of the incident around 5 a.m.
Trooper Schmidle received the GPS points for White’s monitoring device by community corrections. At the time of the shooting, White’s GPS monitoring device placed him at the scene of the crime.
On September 5, State Troopers identified another witness at the scene of the shooting. The witness was interviewed by State Troopers and members of the Mountain Region Drug and Violent Crime Task Force. According to this witness, White and Moore were arguing throughout the night. The witness reportedly left the residence around the time the arguing escalated. According to the witness, the only people left at the residence at this time were White and Moore. The witness stated after walking approximately 10 feet from the residence a gunshot was heard. The witness reported that White then came out of the residence and said to get help.
According to the criminal complaint documents, the suspect, White is charged with first-degree murder. The criminal complaint documents also stated there was probable cause for a search due to recent witness reports, thus granting White’s arrest warrantless.
White was booked in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail. Bail has not been set.
