GRAFTON – The Tucker County Golf team traveled to Grafton to compete in the 18 hole Class “A” Region 2 Championship on Monday September 23rd. Tucker County picked up the team win to capture the Regional Championship with a team score of 252.
Carleigh Bolyard also captured the low medalist honor in the match with a score of 77. Other scores for Tucker County golfers were as follows: Easton Snyder(86), Connor Nestor(89) and Myles Paugh(101). Trinity placed 2nd to be the second team to advance to the State Tournament. Gilmer(264) placed 3rd, Moorefield(266) finished 4th, Notre Dame(273) was 5th, Tygarts Valley(285) finished 6th and Pendleton County(473) placed 7th. Tucker County’s Head Coach Sam Goughnour said after the win, “I was pleased with the kid’s performance, I knew they had a good chance to place in the top two, but I think we surprised a lot of people with the win.”
Tucker County golfers will travel to the State Golf Tournament and compete on Tuesday October 3rd and Wednesday October 4th. The State Golf Tournament will be held in Wheeling, WV at Olgebay Resort. The Class “A” teams competing in the State Golf Tournament are as follows: Tucker County, Trinity, Huntington St. Joe, Madonna, Wheeling Central, Charleston Catholic, Summers County and Ravenswood.
