Elkins, WV — Davis Medical Center (DMC) is pleased to welcome Dr. Deborah L. Chadwick, MD, a board certified general surgeon.
“Dr. Chadwick will be a tremendous asset to our team,” noted Chief Executive Officer Vance Jackson. “Her skills and emphasis on the patient experience meld well with the talent and philosophy of the entire Surgical staff.”
Chadwick says she is happy to return to her home state and is looking forward to working alongside the DMC surgical team of Dr. Jon Winkler and Dr. Amy Bair.
With special interests in breast cancer surgery, hernias, endoscopy and colon cancer, Chadwick has practiced as a general surgeon since 2001. She was most recently employed at Bellefonte Physician Services, Inc. in Ashland, KY, and earlier in private practice in Delta, CO. She also has worked as an assistant professor teaching general and breast surgery at University Physicians & Surgeons at Marshall University in Huntington.
A love of science as a youth led Chadwick to pursue a career in medicine. Working as a surgeon, she says, gives her the opportunity to care for people across a large spectrum of health needs.
Chadwick earned her Doctor of Medicine degree in 1995 from Marshall University School of Medicine and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences, also from Marshall University. She completed her general surgery residency at Marshall University, her diagnostic radiology residency at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, and her general surgery internship at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston.
In 2014, Chadwick earned certification as a Da Vinci trained robotic surgeon which included courses on advanced colon surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction. She also is certified in Trauma Ultrasound for Surgeons and Advanced Traumatic Life Support.
Chadwick is an American College of Surgeons Fellow and a member of the Kentucky Medical Society, Colorado Medical Society and Delta County Medical Society.
Chadwick and her husband, Todd, both native West Virginians, have two children, Carrie, 12, and David, 10. The family has a love for animals, especially horses, and enjoys outdoor activities including boating, horseback riding and biking.
With board-certified anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists, DMC provides 24-hour surgical coverage. The same-day surgery unit is a comprehensive outpatient facility located on the first floor of Davis Medical Center.
