Flossie Mabel Bright Hardy, age 97 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
She was born Tuesday, August 17, 1920 at Kerens, WV, a daughter of the late John Add and Mary Ann Teter Bright. On March 2, 1940 at Oakland, MD, she was married to Daniel W. Hardy, who preceded her in death, March 8, 1986. They had celebrated forty-six years of marriage.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas Daniel Hardy and wife Sandra of Hambleton, Jerry Lee Hardy, Sr. and Harry Webster Hardy and wife Carolyn Sue, all of Parsons; two daughters, Shirley Moody and husband Kenneth of Fork Mountain and Linda Vest and husband Danny of Elkins; one brother, Robert Bright and wife Jackie of Elkins; three sisters, Texie Mallow and husband Harding of Montrose, Nellie Shreve of Beverly and Alice Tharp of Hampton, VA; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are two brothers, Burley Bright and Daniel Bright; and four sisters, Eva Breakiron, Ethel Stephens, Dessie Phillips, and Fannie Shreve.
She attended the one room Vandergrift School at Stalnaker Run. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, reading and family genealogy. She was a lifetime member of the Liberty Rebekah Lodge #95 of Parsons.
The family received friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.. On Thursday evening at 7 p.m., a memorial service was performed by the Liberty Rebekah Lodge #274 of Davis, WV. Final rites were conducted at the funeral home on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 1 p.m. The Rev. David Snyder officiated, and interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons, WV. The family suggest that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to Mountain Hospice, 1002 South Crim Ave., Belington, WV 26250.
