We had a lot of trees and branches come down this past week with our first snowfall.
It was heavy in some spots and really wet, but the trees have not lost all their leaves yet so it caused a lot of damage. And it happened on the same day as Super Storm Sandy. Momma Said, “The weather is so weird these days that we can’t predict what is going to happen.”
We used to get snow from October through March, now we get more rain than snow. There are some places that have not even gotten a first frost yet. That is why we still have so many leaves on the trees. I hope they fall before we get any more snow. If not we are going to be in BIG trouble.
Our country has suffered more loss at the hands of terror, unsuspecting people on foot and bicycles. It is hard for me to understand how people can do such heinous acts of cruelty. Momma Said, “Why can’t we just all get along with each other, is that such a hard thing to do?”
When you have grown up in small town America, it is tough to think of horrible things like this happening. We don’t have the amount of crime and violence in this area that more and more of the world is experiencing.
I told you last week that I would have a follow up recipe for you and here it is. I have not tried this recipe, so if you give it a whirl drop me a line and let me know how it is.
Fire Cider Chutney
- Strain the solid ingredients from the liquid Fire Cider after four weeks, they should still be somewhat firm and flavorful.
- Add ingredients to a food processor or blender and grind coarsely (don’t blend into a smooth paste, but only until coarse and crunchy). If too dry, add a little of the Fire Cider Vinegar to the mix. You can add a little more honey and cayenne to taste.
- Your finished Fire Cider Chutney should be sweet but not too sweet, hot but not too hot, and just right.
- This delicious chutney is great on toast, mixed with rice, veggie dishes, is a favorable addition to soups, or can be enjoyed right from the spoon!
