The Tucker County Senior Citizens held their monthly Outpost at the Parsons Center on November 7, 2017. Evelyn Moore welcomed everyone. Everyone recited the Lord’s Prayer, gave the Pledge of Allegiance and then sang “God Bless America.”
Those having November birthdays were recognized. They were Charlie Lowther, Vera Lipscomb, and Arlene Ramsey. The group then sang “Happy Birthday” to them.
The program was our Veteran’s Day program. The Goldenaires Choir provided several musical selections including “The Star Spangled Banner”, “America”, and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”. Meg and Jim Buddingh performed “Two Little Boys”, “God Bless the USA”, “Thank You Lord for Your Blessing”, and “Where the Roses Bloom Again”.
Bernice Hymes read the “Origin of Veteran’s Day”, Shirley Cassidy read “The Veteran”, and Evelyn Moore read “Veterans Poem”.
All veterans present were recognized and gave their name and their place of service. Charlie Lowther spoke on behalf of the Tucker County Veteran’s Association. They demonstrated how to fold the flag properly while Danny Barkley read what each fold of the flag means. Kenny Knotts then read the meaning of “Taps” and Hayden Wamsley performed “Taps” on his trumpet. Those present said that this was awesome.
Door prizes were won by Ida Workman, Marlene Moore, Donna Pierce, and Vicki Moore.
All said grace together before a delicious lunch.
