The St. John’s United Methodist Church honored the Veteran’s in attendance at their Sunday morning worship service on November 5.

Pastor Phil Dent invited all Veterans to come forward and join him in the pulpit area at the front of the church.  He then asked each Veteran to state their name, branch of service, and the years in which they had served.  The pastor then presented the Veterans with a small token of appreciation, giving each one a Pewter-finished keychain which featured Psalm 33:12, Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. The front of the key chain had an engraving of the United States flag with a banner that read “Thank you for your faithful service”.

Pastor Dent then led the congregation in a round of applause for the Veterans, which became a standing ovation.  Once the Veterans were seated, the pastor offered a prayer of blessing over the group.
Veterans in attendance included: Sonny Wilfong, Victor Beckman, Roger Carr, Larry Bates, Jim Strawderman, Jake Kopec, Jack Hockman, and Arlie Davis.  Veterans who were unable to attend due to illness included Kelly Snyder, Don Snyder, Bud Sponaugle and Allen Loughry.
