Foster “Allen” Hile

Foster “Allen” Hile, 96, formerly of the Holly Meadows community and more recently of Lavender Fields Assisted Living in Beverly, passed from this life December 4, 2017.


He was born Tuesday, September 20, 1921, a son of the late Albert S. Hile and Mae Auvil Hile. On December 24, 1940 at Holly Meadows, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Teter Hile. They had celebrated sixty four years of marriage until her death in 2005.

Allen is survived by two nephews, Terry Hile and John Teter and five nieces, Rhonda Sherman, Donna Cunningham, Joyce Louk, Nancy Rowan and Karen Teter Galic.

Besides his parents and wife, Allen was preceded in death by his only son, Allen “Dean” Hile, one brother Albert Junior Hile, one sister, Marie Phillips and one niece, Marsha Bishoff.

Allen was a 1940 graduate of Parsons High School. He was a prominent farmer and was an avid gardener. He established River Bend Estates in the 1970s. He had worked at Dorman Mills and the State of WW before his retirement. He also enjoyed family history.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Parsons where he had served on the Board of Trustees.

Visitation was held at the Hostetler Funeral Home Wednesday from 5-8 pm. A funeral service were conducted from the funeral home chapel Thursday, December 7 at 11 am. Rev. Brad Barton will officiated and entombment followed in Mountain State Gardens mausoleum in Gilman. The Hostetler Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements for Foster Allen Hile.
