HAMBLETON – Tucker County hosted PVC and Sectional Rival Moorefield on Tuesday February 6th for a Senior Night game. The Lady Mt. Lions came out motivated from the beginning and never looked back as they cruised to a big 77-20 win.
Tucker County got the scoring started at the beginning of the game and continued to score as they led after one quarter 12-4. The second quarter did not get better for Moorefield as the Lady Mt. Lions outscored the visiting team 16-8 to make the halftime score 28-12 Tucker County.
In the third quarter the Lady Mt. Lions exploded to start the quarter on a 22-0 run and they out pointed the Lady Yellowjackets in the third 26-6 to put the Tucker County lead to 54-18 after three. The Lady Mt. Lions offense continued to be hot in the fourth quarter as the reserve players took over and outpaced Moorefield 23-2 to give Tucker County the win by the final score of 77-20.
Sydney Nestor led Tucker County with 23 points, 13 rebounds and Terra Kuhn added 19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals. Sydney Moore had 9 points, 6 rebounds and McKinley Murphy chipped in 8 points for Tucker County in the win. The Tucker County JV team faced the Harman varsity team before the Moorefield game and Tucker County won the contest by the final score of 53-42.
PETERSBURG – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Class “AA” Petersburg on Thursday February 8th. Tucker County got out to a quick start and locked down the Lady Vikings to get the road win by the final score of 76-25.
Tucker County flexed their muscles early as they outscored the host Lady Vikings to lead after one quarter 26-6. The second quarter was another great defensive performance from Tucker County as they held Petersburg to just 6 points and the Lady Mt. Lions scored 18 points to make the halftime score 43-12 Tucker County.
The Lady Mt. Lions lock down defense continued in the third quarter as Tucker County outscored Petersburg 22-4 in the third to push the Lady Mt. Lions lead to 65-16 after three. The Tucker County reserves outpaced the Lady Vikings in the fourth quarter 11-9 to give Tucker County the win by the final score of 76-25.
Sydney Nestor and Terra Kuhn led Tucker County with 14 points each. Sydney Moore added 13 points and Kelcee James netted 10 points for Tucker County in the win. Cecily Strawderman had 8 points while Kuhn and Aliyah Plum collected 6 rebounds each for Tucker County and Sydney Nestor and McKinley Murphy led Tucker County with 6 steals each. The Lady Mt. Lions JV team fell in a close contest 52-46.
Tucker County(18-1) will host Pocahontas County on Thursday February 15th and then they will host #2 Wheeling Central for the last game of the regular season on Friday February 16th.
