HAMBLETON – The Mt. Lions hosted Trinity Christian for the Regional Championship on Wednesday March 7th. The winner would advance to the WV State Tournament this week in Charleston. Tucker County opened up the first half on fire as they held a 4 point lead at the half, but the Warriors outscored the home standing Mt. Lions 43-18 in the second half to take the Regional Crown by the final score of 69-48.
Tucker County started the game with the offense flowing and the Mt. Lions connected on shots often to lead 13-7 after one quarter of play. Trinity battled back in the second quarter to outpace Tucker County 19-17 in the period to make the score 30-26 Mt. Lions at the half.
The visiting Warriors exploded on offense in the third quarter as Trinity connected on 4 three point baskets in the quarter and outscored Tucker County 24-8 to put Trinity ahead after three 50-38. The hot shooting continued for Trinity in the final quarter as they extended their lead and outshot the Mt. Lions 19-10 to take the victory by the final score of 69-48.
Tucker County was led in scoring by Wesley Snyder with 17 points and Corrick Ambrose added 11 points, 7 rebounds. Jeffrey Snyder finished the game with 10 points, 9 rebounds and Alec Cummings chipped in 6 points for Tucker County in the loss.
Tucker County finished the season with a 13-11 record. Special thanks to Seniors, Wesley Snyder, Brandon Zirk and Luke Poling who ended their Tucker County Basketball careers with the loss.
