MOOREFIELD – The Tucker County Softball team traveled to Moorefield on Wednesday April 25th for a doubleheader. The Lady Mt. Lions fell in both contests by the final score of 14-0 and 19-0.
In Game 1 Moorefield, the top team in the PVC Conference held Tucker County to just 2 hits. Lauren Cockerham started the contest on the mound and lasted 2 innings before Anna Dibacco came in for relief. The Lady Mt. Lions fell in the contest 14-0.
In Game 2 Moorefield would flex their muscle on defense and offense once again. The homestanding Lady Yellowjackets gave up just 1 hit in the contest and connected on pitch after pitch. Lauren Cockerham collected the lone hit for Tucker County. Anna Dibacco started on the mound for the Mt. Lions and went 2 innings before Gracie Rapp came in for relief.
CAMP KIDD – Tucker County hosted Tygarts Valley for a doubleheader on Friday April 27th. The Lady Mt. collected their first wins of the season as they won both games by the final scores of 14-4 and 18-8.
In Game 1 the Lady Bulldogs struggled to get outs against the Lady Mt. Lions and they took advantage. Tucker County got their first run of the game on a bases loaded walk in the 1st inning. Emily Simmons scored after the bases loaded walk then Rachel Arbogast led off the 2nd inning with a single. Lauren Cockerham then hit a long drive to the outfield and she hustled around the bases for an inside the park homerun. Then Simmons and Gracie Rapp added hits to load the bases again. The Lady Bulldogs then had trouble on the mound as they walked in several runs to end the game with the final score of 14-4. Simmons led Tucker County with a 3 for 3 batting which included 3 singles and 1 double. Cockerham got the win for the Lady Mt. Lions on the mound.

In Game 2 Tucker County fell behind 7-0 in the 1st inning. Then the Lady Mt. Lions got on the board when Lauren Cockerham led off the inning with a double and then Gracie Filler hit a sacrifice bunt to score the run. Tucker County then collected a few bases loaded walks to cut the Lady Bulldogs lead to 7-4. Gracie Rapp the connected on an inside the park homerun and then Gracie Filler drove in another run for Tucker County and before the inning ended the score was tied 8-8. Tucker County got the bats going again in the next inning when Cockerham, Simmons, Rapp, Anna Dibacco and Filler led off the next inning with hits. Rapp connected on a triple and then Cockerham hit another inside the park homerun to open the game up for Tucker County as they led 17-8. Dibacco then ended the game with a game winning RBI single to score Simmons to make the final score 18-8 Tucker County. Cockerham led the Lady Mt. Lions with 3 hits, followed by Simmons, Rapp, Dibacco, and Filler, with 2 hits each. Cockerham got the win for Tucker County on the mound. For more info and a schedule go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
