TUCKER COUNTY BASEBALL GET A WIN OVER POCAHONTAS COUNTY

PARSONS – The Mt. Lions Baseball team hosted Tygarts Valley on April 23rd for one contest. Tucker County fell in the game by the final score of 12-2.


Shayne Liller led things off on the hill for the Tucker County Lady Mountain Lions. Liller went 6 innings, and allowed 7 runs on 7 hits and she also struck out eight batters.  Shane Humphrey and Cameron Wamsley entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two-thirds of an inning and one-third of an inning respectively.

Tucker County tallied 7 hits from behind the plate. Michael Gherman and Liller each collected two hits to lead Tucker County in the loss. Gus Mullennex, Jordan Moss, and Zach Frymyer each had a hit as well for the Mt. Lions during the game. Sayne Liller and Gus Mullennex each had an RBI scoring Gherman and Frymyer respectively. Tucker County fell in the contest by the final score of 12-2 Bulldogs.

ELKINS – The Tucker County Baseball team traveled to Robin Harvey Field in Elkins to play Pocahontas County on Friday April 27th. The Mt. Lions picked up their first win of the season by the final score of 3-1.

Shayne Liller pitched a great game for Tucker County on the mound as he gave up just 2 hits as he went the distance. Liller also collected 18 strike outs and he had a no hitter into the 6th inning of the game.

The offense got started for Tucker County in the 1st inning as Liller led off with a double. Then with 2 outs a wild throw to third by the Warriors allowed Liller to score to make the score 1-0. In the 2nd inning the Mt. Lions added to their lead as Liller connected on another pitch to drive in 2 runs with another double to make the score 3-0 Tucker County.

Pocahontas County got on the scoreboard in the 6th inning, but they were able to manage just 1 run to put the score to 3-1 Tucker County. The Mt. Lions closed out the game as Liller struck out 4 of the last 5 batters in the contest to end the game with Tucker County taking the win by the final score of 3-1.

Liller led the Mt. Lions as he went 2 of 4 and collected 2 RBI’s. Michael Gherman, Christian Purnell and Tyler Moore also collected 1 hit each for Tucker County in the win.
