Thomas – Cortland Acres, in collaboration with the Tucker County Photography Club, announces the third annual Photography Exhibition. Selected images will be used to create high definition canvas prints for display throughout Cortland Acres.
A total of fourteen images will be selected from the entrees to create a set of 30 inch by 45 inch print. Additional images may be selected to create a set of 16 inch by 24 inch prints.
The judge and curator for this year’s exhibition is Wil Hershberger. An avid naturalist, accomplished sound recordist and award-winning photographer, Hershberger’s photographs can be found in national magazines and calendars. “I strive to achieve an image that conveys the true essence and splendor of the subject,” explains Hershberger. “I use the camera as my net to capture that essence.”
Photographers are invited to submit up to four high resolution images for consideration of acceptance into this year’s exhibition. Images may be in landscape (horizontal) or portrait (vertical) orientation. Landscape orientation is preferred as this orientation will be exclusively selected for the fourteen larger prints. Desired subjects should highlight the beauty and activities found in the northern West Virginia and western Maryland area and are representative of the people, places and pursuits found in this region. Submitted images may be in color or black and white. Photographers of selected prints will be requested to sign a release for the use of their image donated to Cortland.
To submit images, please go to http://blackwater.cortlandacres.org, complete the submission form and upload up to four images. Submissions will be accepted until June 30, 2018. Photographers of selected images will be notified by July 31, 2018. Unveiling of the exhibition will occur in September, the exact date and time to be announced in August. Questions may be directed to David Miller atfrostline.wv@gmail.com.
