(Moorefield, WV) – As a way to give nursing students a pathway to success, Eastern West Virginia Community & Technical College (Eastern) has signed an articulation agreement with Fairmont State University (FSU).
Students who complete the required Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Nursing courses with the intent on obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) will be granted admission upon fulfillment of Fairmont State University admission requirements.
“This agreement will benefit all of us in the Potomac Highlands region,” said Dr. Charles Terrell, president of Eastern. “Students will receive a high quality nursing education while saving tuition dollars by starting at Eastern and transferring to Fairmont State University. Ultimately, we will have the best educated nurses in the region providing healthcare to all of us.”
The two schools have agreed to maintain consistency and compatibility between courses listed within the agreement and will renegotiate as necessary due to curriculum changes or new graduation requirements.
Eastern’s two-year, 60 credit hour Associate of Applied Science in Nursing program’s courses will be fully transferrable to FSU. All math, science, English and approved elective courses will be applied to FSU’s BSN program, allowing students to take only the additional 64 units required for their degree.
A complete four-year course outline is available to students interested in obtaining their ASN at Eastern and BSN at FSU.
Eastern’s nursing graduates have consistently maintained a NCLEX pass rate at or above the national average with a range from 85.5% to 94.7%.The program has been ranked as the third highest performing in West Virginia and 100% of graduates find employment within six months of receiving their license. Eastern and FSU’s program are fully approved by the West Virginia Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses and the American Commission for the Education of Nurses (ACEN).
