Stout receives Chamber Award

In a recent article appearing in The Parsons Advocate Donna Stout was inadvertlenly omitted from this article.  We apologize for this oversight.

Among laughter, cheers, tears, and to a standing room ovation Donna “Knotts” Stout accepted her award as Tucker County Educator of the Year from the Tucker County Chamber of Commerce. A banquet was held recently at Canaan Valley Resort to present the award which was sponsored by Mountain Hospice.

Stout dedicated her award to her parents, Betty and Everett Knotts and her husband, Allen Stout. She also thanked her former teacher, Mrs. Debbie Gutshall who had inspired her to be the kind of teacher she is.
Stout is a 1977 graduate of Parsons High School and a graduate of Fairmont State College and West Virginia University with a Bachelor Of Arts Degree and a Masters plus forty-five. She has taught for thirty-seven years in the Tucker County School System.
Tucker County Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Eddie Campbell who nominated Mrs. Stout, said “Donna is clearly an outstanding professional, mentor, teacher and employee, but I believe she should be viewed first as an outstanding leader. She is and has been a leader of those of us in education and a leader for education itself. She has attended numerous workshops to stimulate our programs and improve our instructional performance. In this capacity she has mentored and inspired nearly all of the elementary professionals in our county.”
Another person who nominated Stout said, “Mrs. Stout runs a classroom full of love and discipline, with a passion for teaching second graders.”
