Mark “Digger” Burns and his wife, Stephanie, of Location Road, have announced the launch of their new business, “Digger Adventures”. They specialize in tours of Tucker County but also offer event transportation such as weddings and other events where guests would rather not drive. They also offer shuttle services in the county.
Some of their most popular tours at the present time include the Falls Tour of Tucker County, to include Blackwater Falls, Douglas Falls and the Coke Ovens, and some of the smaller falls down the Dry Fork River. They also do a tour to the Briar Meadows Deer Farm, and a historic tour of Tucker County that take in sites listed on the National Registry. One of the most popular is the trip to the Old Mill in Harman and then to Still Hollow Distillery in Job, where the travellers are offered a small sample of the distillery’s finest.
“Another local trip being tentatively planned for this fall will be the Fall Foliage Tour of Tucker County to include a picnic lunch.” S. Burna added.
S. Burns said “We had been pondering this for the past few years. With Digger’s experience driving school buses, we thought it would be a great business venture; so last July, we took the plunge and opened for business in March of this year. We hope to expand in the future to include bigger charter trips to places like “Sights and Sounds” Theatre in Lancaster, Pa., a trip to New York City and other tourist destinations. We are currently running the business from Location Road, but are looking into the possibility of relocating in the Thomas/Davis area.”
According to D. Burns, “I want to take guests off the main drag and show them what we take for granted here in Tucker County. I was born and raised here and having driven the snowplow for the Department of Highways for eight years, I have become familiar with the scenic back roads and all that Tucker County has to offer.
Digger Adventures presently has a 14 passenger mini bus that is ADA accessible, complete with a wheel chair lift. Their website is: www.diggeradventures@gmail.com and they are preparing the website with a booking system that will allow you to book your adventure on line or you can call 304-851-DIGR (3447).
