CHARLES WOODROW MURPHY, age 75 years, a resident of Parsons, WV departed this life Friday afternoon, August 10, 2018 at his home.  He had been in declining health, although death was unexpected.


He was born Thursday, September 17, 1942 at Montrose, WV, a son of the late Howard D. and Mary Jones Murphy Streets.  On August 6, 1963 at Oakland, MD, he was married to the former Dorothy Pansy Shahan, who preceded him in death November 19, 2007.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Shahan, and Jim Canfield and wife Aimee, all of Parsons; two daughters, Carol Nestor and companion Alfred Kooken of Clarksburg and Linda Simmons of Parsons; one brother, Larry Streets of St. George; and two sisters, Mary Woods of Moore, and Peggy Hebb of  Gassaway; five grandchildren, Jamie Canfield Nichols, Dylan Canfield, Justin Nestor, Joshua Barkley and Kiley Simmons; five great grandchildren, James and Dane Barkley,       Lillian Nestor, Emmaleigh and Annalyn Nichols; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death is one son, Charles Richard Murphy, who preceded him in death July 20, 1987; and four brothers, Roger Streets, Claude Streets, Rob Streets and Tim Streets.

He attended the one room Murphy School and the St. George Academy.  He was a Union Boiler Maker, working for Kingsford Charcoal Company, the former Parsons Tannery and Lockheed Martin Company, retiring during 2001.  He enjoyed gardening, ramp digging, being outdoors and loved watching western movies.

A Private family and friends gathering will be held at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons.   Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow at the Pifer Mountain Cemetery at St. George, WV.  The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for CHARLES WOODROW MURPHY.  Condolences may be expressed to the family at; www.lohrbarbfuneralhome.com.
