100th anniversary of the historic road and camping trip
On Tuesday, August 21, around 10 a.m. a caravan of 25 Model T’s will stop in Leadmine for a small break and lunch before heading to Elkins around noon. This trip commemorates the 100th anniversary of the historic road and camping trip of 1918 with Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone and John Burroughs. The public is invited to come visit with the travelers and see their cars. The cars will be at the Leadmine Community Park and Methodist Church. Lunch may be purchased. After leaving Leadmine the Model T’s will head to Parsons, and should be there by 12:45 – 1:00 p.m. There will be a display around Parsons, look for and follow signs to the location.
Cake Walk
The Tucker County Veteran’s Association and Parsons Chapter #91 OES will have a cakewalk at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug, 18 at the courthouse. Free hotdogs and drinks will be available.
Spaghetti Dinner
Parsons Church of God will host a spaghetti dinner and silent auction to benefit Young Life, on Sunday August 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Donations.
Summer Social
Maple Grove Church, located at 1458 Accident Rd., Eglon, will be hosting a summer social on Friday, Agust 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. This annual event includes FREE homemade ice cream, moon bounces, cake walks, and food—all free to our guests. Food Handler’s Training Classes
Tucker County Health Department will conduct a Food Handler’s Training Classes, at the Senior Center in Parsons, on Wednesday, August 22 at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Those persons attending the class will be issued a food handler’s permit which will be good for two years. A $10 registration fee will be collected upon admittance. The classes will start promptly, and late arrivals will not be admitted.
Youth Committee Meeting
The Region VI Workforce Development Board Youth Committee will meet Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Region VI Development Board office located in the Rose Plaza in White Hall. Donna Andes will be at Mountaintop Public Library to talk about her newest autobiography I Would Do It All Again on Thursday, Aug. 16 at 3:30 p.m.
Monthly Sing
The monthly sing of the St. George United Methodist Charge will be Saturday, August 18 at Union Chapel located on Clover Run at 7 p.m. Everyone welcome.
